YouScreen integrated self-sampling into the NHS for the first time, \u00a0offering\u00a0 kits to approx. 31,<span style=\"font-size: 16px\">000 women and people with a cervix overdue their screening in parts of North and East London a self-sampling kit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2012 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cancerprevention.qmul.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/national-cancer-institute-TFJw-mTWw_U-unsplash-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"272\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cancerprevention.qmul.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/national-cancer-institute-TFJw-mTWw_U-unsplash-1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/cancerprevention.qmul.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/national-cancer-institute-TFJw-mTWw_U-unsplash-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 272px) 100vw, 272px\" \/>2) Non-Speculum Clinician Sampling<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Another achievement we made is publishing our work on another novel sampling approach for cervical screening: non-speculum clinician-taken samples. Our RCT concluded that offering non-speculum sampling and self-sampling boosts cervical screening uptake by 17% in older women who had lapsed attendance. The conclusion is that an extension of the screening intervals <em>to five years after a negative HPV test in women aged 25-49 years, and even longer for women aged 50 years and older<\/em> is supported, regardless of the test assay used.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to making more contributions to improving the future of cervical screening over the next year, and sharing these with you.
